Minus K® Releases New Low-Height Vibration Isolation Platform For Audiophiles
The same technology used by NASA is now available for use in high-end audio systems in a new low-profile, and affordable format.
For you serious audiophiles that want the very best
in vibration reduction for your sophisticated audio set-ups,
Minus K Technology, Inc. (www.minusk.com) has released a
new low-height vibration isolation platform for high-end
audio systems, that provides an unprecedented ½-Hz
isolation performance vertical, and 1.5 Hz horizontal. For
use under turntables, tube electronics, CD transports, and
many other kinds of audio equipment, the new system is attractive,
easy to use, and priced to make it accessible to virtually
anyone.
Using the same vibration isolation technology utilized for
NASA's Space Interferometry Mission - whose goal is the
measuring of precision distances between objects in deep
space - Minus K has proven itself to be the most effective
vibration isolation system available. Their patented, negative-stiffness-mechanism
technology reduces building and floor vibrations to unprecedented
levels, which enables audio equipment to perform to a much
higher level of fidelity.
No air or electric power is required, there is no maintenance
and nothing to wear out. The Minus K units are 18"W
x 20"D x 4.6"H, and are available with nominal
load capacities of 25, 50 and 100 lbs. Custom variations
of the low-height unit can be designed for larger and heavier
audio components. Pricing starts as low as $2,400.
Based on field testing and user evaluations, the Minus K
1/2-Hz vibration isolation platforms perform about 10 to
100 times better than high-performance air tables depending
on the vibration isolation frequencies. They also perform
better than active or electronic-cancellation systems. Minus
K isolators (when adjusted to 1/2 Hz) achieve 93% isolation
efficiency at 2 Hz; 99% at 5 Hz; and 99.7% at 10 Hz.
"With the Minus K platforms in place and floating,
there was a purity, transparency, and sense of harmonic
rightness that was mesmerizing. Instruments sounded much
more like real instruments and voices sounded like they
were in a real acoustic space with real air around them.
The ability to see into the soundstage was greatly increased.
The improvements in the bass were perhaps the most captivating
of all. This is the biggest improvement in turntable isolation
that I have ever heard."

"After we evaluated numerous audiophile and industrial
vibration isolation solutions, we found that Minus K was
not only one of the strongest performers for our high-end
audio application, but also provided excellent value. Before
learning of Minus K, we had anticipated needing either an
air based or active isolation solution to get the sonic
performance we wanted, and were pleasantly surprised to
find that we could achieve the same performance using a
passive solution from Minus K, while simultaneously eliminating
the need and extra cost for special facilities like air
or power."
